Thomas Gary Dorman (AKA Dr-Benway) was born in March, 1976, in the Namibian city of Windhoek. From a young age he had a love of drawing, bringing his wildest fantasies to life on paper in great detail. As he grew up, art played a massive part in his life, allowing himself to express himself, his dreams and darkest imaginings. After completing his schooling, he embarked upon a career as a graphic designer in Cape Town, as well as in Namibia, where he won Gecko Awards for some of his designs.

Not just limited to graphic design, he has proven himself as a highly successful and innovative photo-manipulator, illustrator and photographer, combining an eye for proportion, perspective and colour with his keen observations and social commentary.
Photography is one of his greatest passions, which is supplemented by his great sensitivity to the world around him.

His interests include reading, music, existentialism, art and movies. He currently lives near Simonstown, near a national park. He shares his home with his writer wife, their two dogs, cats, a goldfish and a large collection of succulent plants.
